House Flipping - Have you ever watched one of those house flipping shows and think "That looks easy, I could do that". Well, I have and I don't think it's as easy as some of the shows make it appear. It seems that there are many levels of house flipping because some are a simple as new carpet and a coat of paint, while others involve tearing down the structure to the foundation and building an entire new house.
With everything in life, it's best to start small and work your way up to the bigger projects. There are two main points I have learned from watching these shows and they are ... Kitchens and Bathrooms sell the interiors and curb appeal, with a little clever landscaping, sells the exterior
Then there seems to be two types of strategies when taking on these types of projects. The individuals who do it themselves on nights and weekends and the full time flippers who sub everything out and just manage the project. I suspect the latter started like the former and worked their way up or just have deeper pockets.
I thought that this was an interesting topic and starting a reference area on this site devoted to the subject of house flipping might be helpful to people considering the endeavor. But where to start? The simplest of house flipping requires knowledge of so many different skills beyond woodworking that it seems like a daunting task. How many time have you watched those house flipping programs on TV and see them going thousands over budget because there were unseen problems with the plumbing or the foundation. Doing your due diligence before you take on a house flip will save you headaches not to mention thousands of dollars in the long run.
