What to look for when purchasing a Makita Cordless Drill

If you are looking for a cordless drill there are many options available but the determining factor is what you will be using it for. I would recommend at least 14.4 volts as power and tourqe are important to be able to power through even hard woods.

The main difference in price levels are the internal parts of the drill. The casual use drills used by the diy crowd, will most likely have plastic gears while the professional models ,around twice as much, will have metal gears. I have included an excellent buying guide in .pdf available here.

Battery life is also a big factor and whatever drill you purchase, I would recommend buying a backup battery if you are planning to use it for an extended period of time. That way you will have no down time while charging a battery.
